Giro de Bali Cycle Ride 2017

A Tropical Island paradise. 320km.
The Adventure of a Lifetime.
The GIRO DI BALI, Friday 28th April – Tuesday 2nd May 2017

Regain is planning a brand new cycle challenge for 2017 on the beautiful Indonesian Island of Bali in the South Pacific ocean.

The ride will comprise four days cycling with approximately 50 miles per day covered and completely circumnavigating the Island.

The ride is being organised in Association with the Bali Sports Foundation (BSF) who will have members from all around the South Pacific area riding to support disabled and disadvantage people in Bali.
We are hoping to take as many hand cyclists as possible but will need the support of able bodied cyclists to support them and to raise much needed funds for the work that Regain continues to do to help tetraplegics.

The ride will start from Denpassar on Friday 28th April 2017. We will ride up the east coast to Tirtagannga then across the north coast to Singaraja and then round past Gilimanuk and  back along the west coast to the start point at the BSF centre near to Depasser, the capital of the Island. A total of around 350kms.

A full ground crew will be available courtesy of BSF including a mechanic and medical staff. All tetraplegics will need to bring their own cycles but team bikes will be supplied for all able bodied participants.

The plan is that everyone in the first instance will be responsible for booking and paying for their own flights to and from Bali. This will mean that you will be free to arrange whatever stop over you might like to consider e.g. Dubai, Singapore, Kuala Lumpur etc. You will then also be able to stay on before or after the ride on this exceptionally beautiful island as a dream holiday and to enjoy the fantastic beaches and other tourism opportunities on offer.

The package deal once you arrive will include for five nights stay in hotels around the island with all meals provided (but not drinks!) The ride will start on Friday 28th (so you need to arrive on 27th) and will finish on  Monday May 1st (A Bank Holiday in Bali) You will then have a free day on Tuesday 2nd (For site seeing or recovering from the Celebratory dinner on Monday evening!) You should then arrange to book a return flight for Tuesday 2nd May onwards, unless of course you have made a decision to stay on for a period

Apart from your flight costs you will be expected to pay a minimum fee of £1500 per person to cover hotels, meals and other costs during you stay as well as a contribution towards Regains costs for the hand cyclists. Any additional monies that you can raise over and above the initial £1500 will, of course, be greatly appreciated.

This is only the second year that the Giro Di Bali has been run and only around 30 people took part last year. We are not sure what the maximum numbers for participants might be this year but it very likely to be limited and therefore we will have to plan on a first come first served basis and will only confirm places on receipt of an initial deposit of £250 per person. Hand cyclists will be determined also on the number of previous Regain rides that they have participated in.
