Regain Sports Award Luncheon 2013

Regain was delighted to welcome over 150 guests, to our 2013 Sports Award Luncheon which was held in the prestigious Long Room at Lord's Cricket Ground in London - the home of English Cricket.

Regain felt passionately about hosting this Luncheon at a famous sports location to provide a direct link to the sporting characteristics of the charity.  When the opportunity came up to host the 2013 Luncheon at this historic location we really couldn't say no.

The Luncheon began with a drinks reception held in the spectacular Long Room Bar. It was fantastic to see so many Regain supporters together in one location having a great time and sharing their Regain stories.

We were also delighted to welcome to the Luncheon Wheelchair Dance Sport Association, Da Vinci Mobility, Richard Monaghan from Sailing 4 All and David Croft who were present with trade stands for information and also items to purchase.

Following the drinks reception guests made their way into the famous Long Room.  The doors opened to reveal a spectacular setting for the Luncheon.  The walls were adorned with portraits and paintings of famous Cricketers and the tables were decorated and presented with the utmost care.  Outside, the weather was trying it's best to dampen spirits, however the view through the windows overlooking the members area and onto the pitch itself really caught people's imagination.

Regain Chairman, Lord Ivar Mountbatten delivered a warm welcome speech to all the guests before Regain Chief Executive, Gwynne Furlong, presented an update and highlights that have occurred during the last 12 months. Dr Moray Cook also spoke to convey a personal message of thanks to Regain.

Lunch was served at 2pm.

Special thanks must go to the Lord's Cricket Ground catering staff that delivered the 150+ meals professionally and without any fuss and ensured everybody’s needs were catered for throughout the entire day.

Regain Sports Awards

Every year Regain takes great pride in presenting our annual Sports Awards trophies to individuals we believe deserve the recognition they merit. As a charity we are humbled by the support you all show to Regain, year on year. However, we always like to ensure that a select few whose lives are forever changed by tetraplegia and the individuals who go out of their way to fundraise for Regain, achieve the ‘unachievable’ and give up so much time are recognised. Congratulations to all the winners of the 2013 Awards.

The Regain Sports Award Luncheon 2013 also marked a significant point in the charities history.  Regain was very excited to launch it's new Regain logo to our special guests at Lord's.  The new logo was displayed on the giant scoreboards that surround Lord's cricket pitch.  It was a truly memorable sight seeing our new logo displayed around this historic sports ground.  We must thank Lord's for their co-operation in making this happen.

Thank you also to everyone that attended the 2013 Regain Sports Award Luncheon and congratulations to the Sports Award winners. We hope you all had a memorable day and if it was your first Regain Luncheon then we look forward to seeing you again next year.
