The trust for Sports Tetraplegics

Statistics

The list of the 312 tetraplegics on our books does not include the current outstanding applicants (click here to view our current outstanding applicants). We receive approximately one application per week but with more publicity we anticipate that figure could rise. In the UK two people every day become paralysed as a result of spinal injury. That is 700 each year adding to the 40,000 already paralysed. There are no official statistics giving a breakdown between paraplegics and tetraplegics but it is widely accepted that 2/3rd's would be paraplegics and 1/3rd tetraplegic.
