Who needs help from REGAIN?

There are always more tetraplegics in need of funds to buy specialist equipment than REGAIN can ever hope to support. These are just a few of the people who have asked for assistance.

A 16-year-old male from Middlesex who broke his neck playing rugby and is now level C4/C5 has requested a specialist lightweight manual wheelchair.

A 36-year-old Halifax man broke his neck in a diving accident and is now level C5/C6. He needs financial assistance to adapt his garage so that he can transfer from his car into his wheelchair to go in and out of his house in all weather conditions. A donation of £1,500 is requested.

A 29-year-old Surrey man, level C2, who also had a diving accident, requires specialist motorised wheels to convert a lightweight wheelchair into an electric wheelchair to give his some independence. The cost is £3,200.

A Gloucestershire man, aged 28, who had a diving accident and is now level C5/C6 would like a hand cycle so that he can go cycling with his family. The cost is £1,800.

A 26-year-old London man is level C6 as the result of a diving accident. He too would like specialist motorised wheels to adapt his manual wheelchair so that he can get to the shops.

A 40-year-old male from Kent, C6 level break as the result of a swimming accident, has requested a rugby wheelchair so that he can train for a place in the Great Britain Wheelchair Rugby team. Cost is £2,800.

A 21-year-old male who lives in Southampton is level C5 as the result of a swimming accident. He needs a Possum environmental control system for his home to enable him to turn on equipment like the television and radio and close curtains etc. The cost is £850.

A 46-year-old male from North London, level C3 following a motorcycle accident, wants a voice-activated mobile phone costing £500.

A 30-year-old tetraplegic man from West Sussex needs daily assistance and would like to go on the first holiday since his accident. He requires £800 to take his carer on a specialist UK Winged Fellowship holiday for disabled people.

A 41-year-old male from County Durham who is level C4/C5 as the result of a parachute accident would like a laptop computer costing £1,400.
