Tetraplegia

Sometimes referred to as quadriplegia, is a result of severe spinal cord injury.

  • It affects both sensation and mobility because messages to the brain have become interrupted.
  • A tetraplegic is unable to walk and has limited reach and dexterity because use of the arms is severely impaired.
  • Some accidents occur during active participation in sport: most often to young, dynamic, active, individuals.
  • One minute, they are fit, active and healthy. The next minute, they are paralysed, unable to move and in need of care for the rest of their lives.

REGAIN exists to help them.
